Why Trade Sequence Decides Your Timeline

Order matters more than speed

Most renovation delays are not caused by slow work. They are caused by work happening in the wrong order, then having to be partly undone.

Wiring has to be tested before plaster covers it. Carpentry has to be measured after the floor is laid. Painting comes after the ceiling is skimmed, not before.

  1. Wiring and pipework first, while walls are open
  2. Plaster and ceiling, then skim
  3. Tiling and flooring
  4. Carpentry, measured against finished surfaces
  5. Painting and final fit-out

When each trade is booked separately, nobody owns this order — and the gaps between them are where the schedule goes.
