SPC Flooring Installation

SPC flooring laid over a properly levelled subfloor, because the base decides how the floor performs.

Service Overview

SPC flooring is popular for good reasons — it is water-resistant, dimensionally stable and quick to install. It is also unforgiving of an uneven subfloor, which is where most complaints come from.

We check the subfloor for level and moisture before laying anything. Where it is out of tolerance, we level it first rather than installing over it and hoping.

What We Provide

  • Subfloor preparation

Grinding down high spots, filling low spots and levelling the base to within installation tolerance.

  • Moisture assessment

Checking slab moisture before installation, and specifying a barrier where readings require it.

  • SPC supply and installation

Click-lock SPC laid with the correct expansion allowance at perimeters and doorways.

  • Edge and transition detailing

Skirting, beading and threshold transitions to adjoining floor finishes.

Why It Is Worth Doing Properly

Typical Work We Take On

  • Whole-unit flooring for homes and condominiums

  • Room-by-room replacement of damaged or dated flooring

  • Office and retail floors selected for traffic levels

  • Overlay onto existing tile where levels permit

  • Stair nosing and threshold transitions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can SPC be laid over existing tiles?
Often yes, provided the tiles are sound and the grout lines are not deep enough to telegraph through. We check this on site and will recommend levelling compound where they are.
2. Is SPC suitable for bathrooms?
SPC is water-resistant rather than waterproof at the joints, so it suits kitchens, laundries and dry areas well. For a shower area we would recommend tile instead and will say so.
3. How long until we can move furniture back?
Click-lock SPC uses no wet adhesive, so the floor is walkable immediately and furniture can usually return the same day.
4. Why leave a gap at the walls?
SPC expands and contracts slightly with temperature. Skirting or beading covers the gap, and without it the floor can lift or peak at the middle of the room.
